The town of Whitecourt is officially in the running to be named Kraft Hockeyville 2016.

On behalf of the town, Brent Stark, owner of the Whitecourt Wolverines, has submitted an official application.

The first round of selections will conclude on March 5 with the top 10 communities to be announced live on Hockey Night in Canada that evening.

Following the top 10 announcement, communities will then compete to receive the most votes in hopes of winning the grand prize of $100,000 in arena upgrades for the town’s local rink.  Also, the town will play host to an NHL exhibition game in either September or October, which will be broadcasted nationally on Sportsnet.

A social media blitz is currently underway for the Whitecourt application as they ask for residents to like, share and retweet their bid using the hashtag #KHV_Whitecourt.
