The Whitecourt Fire Station will do a live fire training exercise using a controlled house burning on Saturday, June 10th. The building is located between the Canadian Tire parking lot and Highway 43.
Deputy Fire Chief, Aaron Floyd explains.
There had been some concerns from the public about the environmental cost of the fire. However, Floyd says the department has taken every precaution to ensure the fire is as safe as possible.
Floyd says the procedure is a very common practice, regularly performed throughout Alberta and North America. He says the training exercise is an excellent opportunity for the department to learn and get better.
