Mayerthorpe’s Don Fraser is 102 years old and finally getting recognition for his service with the Royal Canadian Navy during World War 2.

The Royal Canadian Legion announced last week that Fraser was presented with medals such as the 39 – 45 Campaign Star, the Arctic Campaign Star, the Defense Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the King’s War Medal.

President Kyle Scott recaps some of Fraser’s wartime service.

Scott says that when he returned home from the War, Fraser went to work on an area farm not seeking any recognition for his efforts overseas.
