The Whitecourt Children’s Festival saw numbers jump year over year, just the second year of the event.
Some of the talk at Monday’s council meeting was whether to make it a free event for the public.

The cost of the festival this year was about $68,000. Ticket sales generated about $12,000.
Meanwhile, the town and Fortis are working towards new lights for the downtown corridor. The first wave of installation would be along 50th and 52nd Avenue.
The new poles have the backing of the town’s vitalization committee.

The proposal has been put off to a later meeting. If it is to go ahead, it would eliminate some of the overhead wires seen throughout the downtown.
