The modernization project for Evergreen Elementary in Drayton Valley has been stopped.

Further structural and soil testing and an investigation of the crawlspace air quality were the factors leading to indefinite hiatus.

At the end of March, the Alberta Government announced that the school was one of several to be in line for a modernization.

It was estimated that it would cost close to $14 million.  Much of the debate was focused on whether Evergreen should get modernized or replaced, with the school division opting for the former.
