This is one of the few remaining COVID restrictions that still apply within town.
Masks will no longer be required in taxis and on shuttles either.
Aug. 16 is when the provincial government has said it will lift the last of its remaining COVID restrictions.
The 10-day isolation period following a positive test result will no longer be mandatory, and isolation hotels and quarantine support will no longer be available.
There will be no more testing for those with mild symptoms, and testing will be available only for those with symptoms when it’s needed to help direct patient care decisions.
As of August 6, there have been a total of 524 cases in the town of Whitecourt, with one case currently active, 521 recoveries, and two deaths.
