A Conservative Member of Parliament is dipping his toe into provincial waters. Peace River – Westlock representative Arnold Viersen has decided to back Jason Kenney, ahead of this October’s United Conservative Party leadership contest.

So far, three people have put their name forward, with a fourth teetering on the edge. Kenney, Brian Jean and Doug Schweitzer will be on the ballot in October. Derek Fildebrandt is considering a run.

Viersen is supprting his former colleague at the Federal level and past leader of the Progressive Conservatives.

“When he put his name forward to be the leader of the PC party to bring unity to Alberta he did just that. Now he is running to lead the United party to bring back common sence to government and restore the Alberta Advantage and I know he can do that”.
