•    20 percent said diamond earrings
•    13 percent said red roses
•    11 percent said a box of chocolates


Try these tips for writing a love letter. Barrie Doinick, co-author of "How to Write a Love Letter."
•    Be yourself - Trying to sound like someone else is insincere.
•    Use language you're comfortable with - Make it light and conversational, as if you're wooing him over a candle lit dinner.
•    Remind him of something meaningful - Remember the first time you heard "your" song or shared a private joke that he still laughs about?
•    Don't ramble - When it comes to love letters, less is more.
•    Write from your heart - Nothing makes a love letter more powerful.

•    Anything with an electrical cord attached
•    Anything that belongs in a kitchen
•    Anything that makes a noise
•    A Hickory Farms cheese ball
•    A catchers mitt
•    A rash in the shape of a heart

•    Nose hair trimmers
•    Overalls
•    A box of chocolates with all the good ones missing and big thumb-holes mashed into all the praline ones
•    Jewelry that comes in a plastic bubble from a supermarket
