Just after noon on Wednesday Hinton RCMP were called out to the Athabasca River just North of the town, responding to a distress signal that belonged to an adventure tour group with 10 travelers in 5 canoes.
RCMP discovered that two the canoes had capsized and tourist was stuck on an island.
RCMP along with Edson Fish and Wildlife were able to rescue the stranded tourist and get them to safety.
There were no injuries or loss of life in the incident which RCMP are very thankful of.
RCMP are reminding people to be very cautious around the water because the rivers are moving faster than normal thanks to all the heavy rainfall we've had in the past few days.
