The Whitecourt Wolverines wrapped up their recent home stand with a win, beating the Lloydminister Bobcats 4-2 on Feb. 11.
The Bobcats were first out of the gate, scoring at 9:56 in the first period. Luke Busby got the goal, with Ethan Aucoin and Matthew Swanson getting the assists. The Wolverines tied things up at 15:44, as Thomas Vela scored. The assist went to Christiano Aiello and Tyler Mahan. The first period ended in a 1-1 tie.
The Bobcats took the lead in the second period when Jack Parker scored at 1:41, thanks to an assist from Mack Stewart. At the end of the second, the Bobcats had a 2-1 lead.
The Wolverines then went on to win the game by scoring three unanswered goals in the third period. Jackson Bohan scored at 3:43, with an assist from Alex Dominique. The next came at 4:41, as Thomas Vela got his second goal of the night. The assist went to Dylan Leslie. Tyler Mahan scored the insurance goal on the power play at 6:06, picking up assists from Travis Baker and Caleb MacDonald. When the buzzer sounded, the Wolverines won 4-2.
The Wolverines outshot the Bobcats 44-24. The Wolverines had plenty of power play opportunities, going 1 for 8. The Bobcats were 0 for 5 on the power play.
The Wolverines finish off their four game home stand with a record of 2-2. The Wolverines are now off on a quick three game road trip, with the first stop being in Drayton Valley on Feb. 15 to face the Thunder.
The Wolverines remain in sixth place in the Viterra AJHL North Division, with 59 points and a record of 27-23-5.
