Organizers needed to add several more rows of seating as the community packed St. Josephs Hall on Thursday to hear about the future of the forestry industry and how it relates to caribou in the area. Much of the recent uncertainty stems from last year’s Denhoff report.
Speakers ranged from Foresty Minister and local MLA Oneil Carlier to Robin Steenwag, a Wildlife Biologist and Jospeh Crocker of the Canadian Wildlife Service.
Mayor Maryann Chichak on if the topic resonates through the rest of the province.
Carlier told the audience that the government is committed to a working landscape. Organizers with the Whitecourt Chamber of Commerce were happy with the event, calling it a success.
