This might be hard to believe but the hamlet of Peers has seen almost $80 million given away in lottery prizes since 2005.

There have been three major winners connected to the Yellowhead County community and the most recent was given out yesterday to Brett McCoy and Robin Walker.  They won $60 million connected to the September 22nd Lotto Max draw.

Walker says at first check, she didn’t look at all the zeroes closely.

McCoy on how long he’s been playing the lottery.

The couple have four kids, from ages four to 16.  They had no immediate plans for anything extravagant but admit they have already bought a truck.

Going back to the success of Peers as a money pit for lotto players, in 2005, a couple from Peers won an $8.2 million LOTTO 6/49 jackpot and in 2007, another resident claimed an $11 million LOTTO 6/49 prize.

The winning ticket was sold at the McLeod Trading Post.
