Council in Whitecourt got an updated look at the plans for a new municipal centre Monday.
The first of eight phases was put through. Still in its infancy, the project could cost between $27 and $45 million, depending on the size of the building.
Mayor Maryann Chichak says there’s no timeline currently in place to get this project shovel ready.
The plan would be to have a new library and performing arts venue share the location, which would be located at the empty lot on 51st Street, across from the Fire Hall. Putting the new office at that location would be to spur economic development and revitalize the downtown core.
