At December’s Whitecourt town council meeting, council discussed a letter of recommendation sent to Alberta Health Services about meeting with the town and county over improving the healthcare centre.

The letter highlighted the many deficiencies the healthcare centre is facing, including limited space, overcrowding, and the fact that no additions or modernization have been completed.

Whitecourt Mayor, Maryann Chichak on the importance of the meeting.

AHS replied saying the town should talk with healthcare staff at the centre, but Chichak said they already have and the next step is an actual meeting with the Board to consider them for funding.

Whitecourt’s healthcare centre has come up as an item of priority in the past as part of the North Zone, but no provincial funding has been recommended by the Board.
