Bylaw numbers from last year are in. Municipal enforcement in Whitecourt dropped by 12 percent in 2017. That number is attributed to a staffing shortage for half of the year.

Bylaw responded to 1,322 calls last year. The biggest drop was in traffic tickets written, which fell by 46 percent.

Mayor Maryann Chichak says municipal enforcement isn’t just there to write tickets.

Bylaws biggest jump last year was in sidewalk snow removal, with an increase of nearly four times the previous year.
