Gas and Dash Legislation Makes All Alberta Pumps Pre-Pay

The province’s new gas and dash legislation came into effect June 1st, with the aim of protecting Alberta convenience store and gas station workers from robberies and gas and dash incidents.

The new Occupational Health and Safety rules first brought forward last Fall will take effect and make it mandatory for all fuel at gas stations in the province be pre-pay only.

Over the last four years, Alberta has seen a number of convenience store robberies and gas and dash crimes committed, resulting in the deaths of five workers and serious injuries to three others across the province.
