Woodlands County Council this week discussed increases to the community aggregate payment levy, which is taxes on county gravel extraction.

All counties in Alberta charge a tax to those outside the county who extract gravel from them, and Woodlands County has been pushing the province for years to increase the tax fees for those who use the county’s gravel.

Mayor Jim Rennie on the fees finally increasing.

Rennie says those who primarily use gravel from Woodlands County are located in Edmonton.
