The Barrhead and Area Regional Crime Coalition, which includes Barrhead and Woodlands Counties, launched the B.A.R.C.C Connect in response to the increase of crime in the area.
The automated system delivers messages through voice mails, text messages, and email and was developed to notify citizens of criminal activity, emergency situations, fire bans, road closures, and service interruptions.
The system will provide residents with several options to stay up-to-date, in real time, with information from the local RCMP as well as municipal partners to increase community safety overall.
Woodlands County Councillor, Dale McQueen on the initiative.
McQueen says they are offering an early sign-up until November 15th for those wishing to register for the program. When signing up, people will be entered to win door prizes that will be drawn on November 20th.
