RCMP are investigating a fatal collision that happened on Highway 43 Friday night near Green Court.

On Friday, November 23rd just before 9 pm, Mayerthorpe RCMP, assisted by Whitecourt RCMP and an RCMP collision analyst were called to a single vehicle rollover near Green Court.

While traveling westbound on Highway 43, a Kia sedan appears to have lost control and crossed the median before rolling over, ejecting the lone male driver.

According to a media release, the RCMP’s preliminary investigation leads them to believe that after being ejected, the male driver was then dragged by a large vehicle for about a half kilometre from the original scene.

At the time of the collision, it was snowing and road conditions were icy.

The name of the deceased is not being released. The collision is under investigation and Mayerthorpe RCMP are asking for the public’s help in identifying the vehicle that struck the ejected driver.

If you have any information you are asked to contact the Mayerthorpe RCMP detachment at 780-786-2291.
