Two Edson Men Charged in Break and Enter

Two men from Edson are facing numerous charges after Whitecourt RCMP responded to a break and enter in progress to a gas plant near Windfall on January 1st.

Police were confronted by a Jeep that had been stolen out of Edson. RCMP used a police vehicle to block the suspects from escaping, resulting in their arrest.

31-year-old Jonathan Croteau of Edson has been charged with break and enter with intent, flight from a peace officer, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of break-in instruments.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Whitecourt Provincial Court on January 22nd.

43-year-old Stephen Pond of Edson is also facing charges that include break and enter with intent, flight from a peace officer, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and possession of break-in tools. He is also facing three charges of failing to comply with recognizance, operating a motor vehicle without subsisting registration, driving while uninsured on a highway, and driving while unauthorized.

He appeared in Edmonton court on January 4th.
