Whitecourt Town Council this week adopted Bylaw 1544 to authorize a loan payment to be given to the Whitecourt Golf and Country Club.

The loan will give the club short-term assistance after they experienced a shortfall in revenue last year due to poor weather conditions, smoke, and management changes.

The Bylaw was advertised in the paper after its first reading, in accordance with the Municipal Government Act, and with no objections to it, was given second and third readings this week.

Mayor Maryann Chichak on the loan for the club.

The loan will be to a maximum of $40,000 and will be paid back with 2.45% interest over two years.

The Town previously gave the club a loan 8 years ago when they opened, to which Chichak says they have never had an issue paying back.
