A male in Edson has been arrested on Friday for being spotted with drugs in his vehicle. 37-year-old Michael Dube from Edson has been charged with possessions of cocaine and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of heroin, possession of proceeds of crime under $5000, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

On February 1st, Edson RCMP were on routine patrol in town when a officer spotted a vehicle running in the Vanier School parking lot. Upon approaching the vehicle, police observed the lone occupant and the driver was unconscious.

Police were able to wake up the driver and determined he was not in medical distress. One of the officers spotted cocaine in plain view in the vehicle, and arrested the driver. A further search of the vehicle located more cocaine, methamphetamine, and suspected heroin.

Dube has been released after a hearing with a Justice of the Peace. Edson RCMP remind the public they can contact police to provide information anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers.
