Mayerthorpe RCMP Investigating Fatal Weekend Collision

A fatal two-vehicle collision on Highway 43 in Mayerthorpe over the weekend left one person dead and three others injured.

The collision happened around 11 am Saturday in the eastbound lanes of Highway 43 near Highway 22 between an SUV and a truck.

According to police, the preliminary investigation revealed that the SUV was traveling west in the eastbound lanes when it collided with a truck that was traveling east.

The 61-year-old female driver and sole occupant of the SUV died on scene. The three adult occupants of the truck were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Names of the involved will not be released.

Mayerthorpe RCMP along with an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist are continuing to investigate, and anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Mayerthorpe RCMP at 780-786-2800.
