The Mayor of Woodlands County has resigned.
Jim Rennie submitted his resignation from the office of Mayor for Woodlands County on February 4th, and County Council accepted that resignation at their regular meeting last night.
In his letter, Rennie cited the reason for stepping down at this time was to allow him to deal with some health issues.
Councillor and Deputy Mayor Ron Govenlock has now been appointed by Council to be Mayor, and he spoke on Rennie’s resignation.
Rennie was appointed by Council to the office of the Mayor for a one year term at the Organizational Meeting on October 16th, 2018.
Though choosing to step down as Mayor, Rennie will still remain on Council as Councillor for Division 4 Whitecourt East.
