It was an emotional morning at the 2nd Annual Mayors Prayer Breakfast in Whitecourt this morning.

People who purchased tickets to the event received breakfast and coffee at the Family Worship Centre, followed by prayers and a presentation.

The late Humboldt Bronco’s Head Coach Darcy Haugen’s sister, Deborah Carpenter, was the guest speaker and gave a powerful and motivating speech.

Deborah spoke to us about her message of hope, and always turning to God.

In her speech, Carpenter reflected on the challenges in her life over the years and how coping through them has helped her in the aftermath of the Humboldt tragedy and losing her brother. She spoke on how her faith and Darcy’s faith with God powers her in speaking engagements around the province.

The Mayors Prayer Breakfast was started as a way to bring community members together once every year and reflect positivity.
