There was a good turnout at the 2019 Budget Open HouseWednesday night in Whitecourt.

Around 60 people came out to see breakdowns of this year’s pending budget, which is about four times the amount that came to last years open house.

Residents were able to ask Council questions such as where money will be going this year and in years to come. They could also give their feedback on certain issues and voice any concerns.

Mayor Maryann Chichak on having the opportunity to engage with residents.

Chichak says those in attendance asked the most questions about the 20-Year Capital Plan, wanting to know where funding was going long-term.

While the official budget breakdown is not yet known, Chichak said 2019’s budget won’t have anything too new on it. Instead, it will be more status quo, with Council focusing on maintaining current service levels.
