The Mayerthorpe Healthcare Centre will be resuming X-ray services for patients, following the installation of a new X-ray machine.

The new X-ray machine replaces the previous unit, which was installed in 2005 and had reached the end of its life cycle.

During the X-ray replacement, a portable X-ray unit was set up on site for patients requiring an emergency exam.

Non-emergent patients who required an X-ray were directed to an alternative Alberta Health Services facility, such as the Whitecourt Healthcare Centre or Barrhead Healthcare Centre.

AHS says it is committed to enhancing care in the community and replacing the X-ray machine in Mayerthorpe reflects this commitment.
