48 Charges Laid in RCMP Drug Intelligence Project

A multi-jurisdictional agency project between Edson, Hinton and Jasper RCMP, along with members from Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams, has resulted in almost 50 charges being laid against 8 people.

From January to April of 2019, Edson RCMP, with the other agencies, engaged in an intelligence-led project targeting activities of local street-level drug traffickers.

As a result of the project, 48 Criminal Code or Controlled Drugs and Substances Act charges were laid against 8 people. The person’s charged are as follows:

45-year-old Michael Elton Leugner:

-Trafficking cocaine X 3
-Possession of cocaine
-Possession of proceeds of crime X 3
-Breach of court order X 3
-Fail to comply with recognizance X 4
-Fail to comply with probation X 2

37-year-old Michael William Dube:

-Trafficking cocaine X 3
-Possession of methamphetamine
-Possession of proceeds of crime X 3
-Fail to comply with recognizance X 2

51-year-old Robert Vernon Kummetz:

-Trafficking methamphetamine X 3
-Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
-Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
-Possession of oxycodone
-Possession of proceeds of crime X 3

53-year-old James Peter Fitzpatrick:

-Trafficking cocaine X 2
-Possession of proceeds of crime X 2

36-year-old Billie Nicole Bull:

-Trafficking cocaine X 2
-Possession of proceeds of crime X 2

44-year-old Lee-Anne Rhoades:

-Trafficking cocaine
-Possession of proceeds of crime

39-year-old Tyler Van Nes:

-Trafficking cocaine
-Possession of proceeds of crime

19-year-old Brandon Henry Bailey:

-Trafficking cocaine
-Possession of proceeds of crime

Leugner and Dube have been held in custody. Kummetz has been released on cash bail, and Fitzpatrick has been released on a no-cash bail.

Rhoades, Bailey, Van Nes, and Bull remain at large on outstanding warrants.

As these matters are currently before the courts no further information will be provided
