Whitecourt Town Council adopted the 2019 Budget at Council this week, but it wasn’t first without some lively discussions surrounding the budget for Whitecourt Woodlands Tourism.
Administration presented Council with a notice that Woodlands County has made a motion to change their budget for WWT, after both the Town and County had settled their Intermunicipal Cost-Sharing Agreement for the year.
Woodlands County will shrink their portion for WWT from $122,000 to $66,000 for the year, an equivalent of $56,000.
Whitecourt Mayor Maryann Chichak explains the changes.
Chichak says they are recommending that groups who had applied for grant funding through WWT now reapply for funding through Whitecourt’s Economic Development Committee for approval once the grants are readvertised.
