Whitecourt Town Council this week awarded a tender contract to a company to do road repairs in town as part of the 2019 Street Improvement Program.
The program includes the rehabilitation of over 25,000 square metres of roadways and paved trails, the replacement of failed concrete gutters and approaches, several utility cut restorations throughout town and driveway enhancement.
The aim of the program is to keep the highest standards of roads at the lowest, long-term cost.
Mayor Maryann Chichak says a number of streets are scheduled to be repaired this summer and fall.
Out of three tender applicants, Council awarded a contract to E-Construction to do the work at a cost of $579,709.60 plus GST, with those funds available in the 2019 Capital Budget.
