The Town of Whitecourt this week approved two more downtown businesses for vitalization grants, as part of the Vitalization Grant Program.

The program is meant to assist businesses in the downtown core upgrade the facade of their buildings to meet the architectural theme of downtown.

Mayor Maryann Chichak says this term there were two businesses who applied and were approved for grant money.

CDR Developments Inc. will receive $10,000 and Hendrickson Black Chartered Professional Accountants will receive $7,125 in grant money as part of the program.

As Chichak said, there is still approximately $23,000 left in funding from the $40,000 available, since the two recipients were the only businesses that applied this spring.

The Town will, therefore, re-advertise the grant program for a second round over the summer to let more businesses wishing to renovate their buildings apply for the remaining funding.

Those who wish to apply can contact the Town Office or go to the Town of Whitecourt’s website.
