The Town of Whitecourt has announced that Pembina Pipeline Corporation plans to build a new office and regional warehouse in the community.

Pembina, a leading transportation and midstream service provider, purchased 8.2 acres in Whitecourt’s Hilltop East Industrial Park for the development and plans to re-locate operations from its existing Whitecourt office in early 2021.

In the Town’s official press release, Mayor Maryann Chichak issued this statement on the news:

“This is exciting news for our community. While there is still so much talk about Alberta’s economy, Pembina’s decision to build a new office in Whitecourt reinforces that investments are still being made in the oil and gas industry and there is still confidence in the transportation of our natural resources. I’m so proud of the efforts made collectively by Whitecourt and Woodlands County in showcasing our community while Pembina was deciding on its location. This move highlights the important and exciting role our community plays in the development of the Duvernay Shale Play.”

“Pembina has proudly been a member of the Whitecourt area for over 50 years,” says Rob Smith, Manager, Northern Lights District, Pembina Pipeline Corporation. “Employees at our Whitecourt office are responsible for safely operating approximately 1,500 kilometres of pipelines, six pump stations, and two truck terminals in the Whitecourt area. In addition to pipeline operations, Pembina has also significantly expanded its gas processing operations in the area with further growth on the horizon. This new office will accommodate the business growth we’ve experienced and further demonstrates our commitment to our employees and the community in Whitecourt.”

Planning and engineering for the development is underway, and construction is anticipated to start later this year.
