Charges Laid in Fox Creek Abduction Case

Charges have now been laid against two people in the Fox Creek abduction case that prompted an Amber Alert on Saturday.

On June 1st at 1:30 am, Fox Creek RCMP responded to a report of a child abduction from a residence in Fox Creek.

It was revealed that three children aged 4, 3, and 9 months were abducted and taken in a vehicle.

Based on circumstances surrounding the investigation, an Amber Alert was issued at 5 am with descriptions of the vehicle, alleged abductor and the children.

Around 7:00 a.m., RCMP in Sylvan Lake attended to a vehicle on Highway 20 north of Sylvan Lake where the mother and three children were located. The children were unharmed but taken to hospital as a precaution.

42-year-old Charmaine Annette Darnel of Whitecourt has been charged with 3 counts of abducting a person under 14, break and enter, assault and uttering threats.

Darnel remains in custody and appeared in Grande Prairie Provincial Court yesterday.

23-year-old D’artangan Dirk Pool of Lethbridge is facing 3 counts of abducting a person under 14, break and enter, assault, uttering threats, forcible confinement and disguise with intent to commit an offence.

Pool was released from custody and will appear in Fox Creek Provincial Court on June 24th, 2019.
