Two Men Charged in 2018 Wabamun Armed Robbery

After a long investigation, Parkland RCMP have identified and charged two of the three men involved in an armed robbery at the Wabamun Hotel Bar on July 3, 2018.

The two suspects identified are also responsible for an armed robbery at the Garden Inn in Vegreville, Alberta on June 13, 2018.

37-year-old Darin Edward Jenkins of St. Albert was arrested on May 3 and faces 16 charges, including:

• Robbery with a firearm (x2)
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x2)
• Using a firearm while committing an offence (x2)
• Pointing a firearm (x2)
• Unlicensed possession of a firearm (x2)
• Possession of a firearm while prohibited (x4)
• Disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence (x2)

32-year-old Andrew James Kemp of Edmonton was arrested on May 24 and faces 14 charges, including:

• Robbery with a firearm (x2)
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x2)
• Using a firearm while committing an offence (x2)
• Pointing a firearm (x2)
• Unlicensed possession of a firearm (x2)
• Theft over $5000 (x2)
• Disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence (x2)

The third suspect in the Wabamun robbery is still unidentified.

Jenkins and Kemp remain in custody and will have subsequent appearances on June 24, 2019, at Vegreville Provincial Court and June 26, 2019, at Stony Plain Provincial Court.
