It was a good turnout at St. Joseph Parish Hall Saturday night for the Build For A Bronco fundraiser event.

The event was put on by A-Tech Mechanical and featured dinner, entertainment, live and silent auctions and games. The goal was to raise money for former Humboldt Bronco Ryan Straschnitzki.

The company will be building Straschnitzki a wheelchair accessible vehicle that he can drive himself. The cost to build the vehicle is around $50,000.

Straschnitzki was at the event Saturday and thanked everyone for the support.

Straschnitzki will be trying out for Team Alberta in sledge hockey later this year, and the vehicle will aid him in being able to get to tryouts and then any practices that may follow should he make the team. As of now, he relies on family and friends to transport him around.

A number of local businesses donated items for the auction, and event organizers Cody Anderson and Blaine Hoffman said Saturday that they are looking forward to seeing the total money raised from the event.
