The Topland Recreational Society is getting some financial help from Woodlands County to cover costs from a break-in.
In 2018, Topland Hall was broken into and had their sound system and defibrillator device stolen. There was also damage done to the hall doors and seacan.
The Hall received an insurance claim payout but it did not fully cover the costs of those items, still leaving the group short on funds.
Woodlands County Mayor Ron Govenlock says this week the County decided to give Topland a donation of $2,132.32 to cover their costs.
The County had discussed having Topland enter into a payment plan to reimburse the funds, but ultimately Council voted to give the money as a donation.
