Woodlands County this week heard a presentation from the Fallen Four Memorial Society in Mayerthorpe, regarding the society’s Library Project.
The Society would like to see the library be expanded and relocated into the memorial site in Mayerthorpe sometime in the near future.
They are hoping for a three-way cost-share for the project between Woodlands County, Lac Ste. Anne County, and the Town of Mayerthorpe, and are applying for an ICIP and a Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) Grant. This week at Woodlands Council meeting they asked for support and funding help from Woodlands County in the amount of $43,333.
Woodlands County Mayor Ron Govenlock says though that the County is currently not in a position to give money right now.
Govenlock says while it cannot be a priority at this time, the County did forward the funding request to next year’s budget deliberations for consideration.
