A Barrhead man is one of two people facing charges after fleeing from police this week.
At 12:30 am on July 24th, Westlock RCMP were on routine patrol in the Hamlet of Fawcett in Westlock County when they attempted to stop a vehicle pulling a trailer. The driver of the vehicle then rammed the police vehicle before fleeing.
A pursuit followed and the police vehicle was rammed a second time. Athabasca RCMP and Athabasca Traffic Services were called in to assist Westlock police. The suspect vehicle and trailer were located and a tire deflation device was deployed on Highway 2, south of Athabasca. During this time, the suspect drove in the direction of the officer deploying the device but the officer was, fortunately, not injured. Two people in the vehicle were then arrested without further incident.
22-year-old Lucas Jenkins from Barrhead and 29-year-old Cali Macphee of Edmonton have both been charged with the following offences:
-Flight from police
-Assaulting a peace officer (x3)
-Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
-Mischief under $5000 (x2)
-Possession of a prohibited weapon.
Jenkins was also charged with possession of Methamphetamines and two counts of breach of undertaking.
