The previously unmarked graves of 14 veterans buried in Edson’s Glenwood Cemetery will finally get their recognition and commemoration this weekend.
On Saturday, people are invited to the cemetery for the ceremony that will introduce the men’s and women’s names.
The veterans’ graves were identified through research and then given military markers through Veteran Affairs Canada’s Last Post Fund.
Alberta Branch member with Last Post, Bobbi Foulds, says this is an important part of local history. She also gives a rundown of the morning’s events, which includes the introduction ceremony and a walking tour.
Foulds says they have identified about 9 more graves waiting to receive their stones.
The ceremony starts at 11 am.
