Yellowhead County will have a change in the Mayor’s seat after Gerald Soroka stepped away from the position this week.

Soroka resigned yesterday in order to pursue a campaign in the federal election, running as a Conservative MP candidate in the Yellowhead Riding.

Soroka first announced his intentions to run earlier this year. He has served as Mayor of Yellowhead County since 2007 and was a councilor prior to that for one term from 2004 to 2007.

A Yellowhead County by-election will be held to replace the vacant position this fall, which ouncil will provide details on at their next meeting on September 24th.
