A 20-year-old man who was wanted for attempted murder and firearm offences in Whitecourt was arrested this week.
On September 18, Mayerthorpe RCMP acted on gathered intelligence and attended a residence on the Alexis First Nation where it was believed that wanted suspect Elvis Mustooch was staying. With the assistance of the RCMP Emergency Response Team, Mustooch surrendered without incident.
A warrant had been out for Mustooch’s arrest since July 6 after a man was treated at the Whitecourt hospital for gunshot wounds.
In addition to his previous charges, Mustooch is facing 12 new charges that include:
-Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x2)
-Alter/remove/obliterate vehicle identification number
-Unauthorized use/carry of a firearm
-Possession of a dangerous weapon
-Possession of a firearm with a licence to possess
-Possession of a firearm knowing it was obtained in the commission of an offence
-Possession of a firearm while prohibited
-Fail to comply with recognizance (x2)
-Fail to comply with probation order (x2)
Mustooch has been remanded into custody and is due to appear in Whitecourt Provincial Court on October 22 and in Mayerthorpe Provincial Court October 24 to answer to his charges.
Katrina Judy Tuckwood was also wanted in connection with the attempted murder investigation from July. The 22-year-old from Whitecourt was arrested by RCMP on August 18.
