Parkland RCMP has laid charges in a theft incident that occurred at the Tri-Leisure Centre in Spruce Grove last month.

On September 13th, police were called to the Tri-Leisure Centre after a vehicle was reported stolen. The victim had left her backpack with belongings in an unlocked locker in the women’s change room.

Video surveillance showed a woman entering the change rooms and exiting a short time later with the victim’s backpack. The suspect was then seen on video surveillance driving away in the victim’s vehicle.

The female suspect was identified as 33-year-old Ashley Wilton of Edmonton. Wilton was arrested on September 20th and charged with one count of Other Theft Under $5000, and one count of Theft of Sport Utility Vehicle.

Wilton remains in custody and will be appearing via CCTV in Stony Plain Provincial Court on October 9th, at 9:30 a.m.
