While Intermunicipal Cost Share Agreement negotiations are still ongoing between the Town of Whitecourt and Woodlands County, there is now at least one less thing to worry about.

Whitecourt Town Council has approved a request from Woodlands County to extend the fire service agreement, outlined in the existing cost-share agreement, until March 31st, 2020.

The previous service agreement would’ve expired at the end of 2019, but Mayor Maryann Chichak says the extension will be beneficial to both communities for continued safety.

The costs to provide the extended fire service to Woodlands would be recovered through a new service agreement retroactive to January 1st, 2020.
