This upcoming Family Day long weekend will be a special one in the Town of Whitecourt.
The Whitecourt Trailblazers Snowmobile Club will be hosting its 40th Anniversary Sled Invasion from February 14th to the 16th, with a parade, snowmobile rally, and two freestyle shows.
Whitecourt Mayor Maryann Chichak says the exciting event will be a little different from the first rally they held in 2015, moving the location to downtown.
Town Council this week approved the downtown street closures for the event, which will include 51 Street, 50 Street, 48 Avenue, 52 Avenue, and 50 Avenue.
The snowmobile parade is planned for February 14th at 5 pm to go from the staging area at the Seniors Circle/Provincial Building parking lot, past 7-11, behind the IGA parking lot, west along 48 Avenue past Associated Ambulance to the Quality Inn north parking lot, onto the McLeod River, and then return back to the staging area.
The freestyle show in downtown Whitecourt will then run from 5:30 to 11:30 pm on the 14th, and again on the 16th from 3 to 9 pm.
