Stony Plain Man Facing 14 Charges after Failing to Stop for Police

A Stony Plain man is facing charges after fleeing from police last week.

Just before 4 am on November 7th, Parkland RCMP attempted to stop a vehicle for having no tail lights when it failed to pull over. After several attempts by police to get the vehicle to stop, it was located a short time later after crashing into a power pole. The driver was found nearby walking on the road uninjured.

In the vehicle, police found a sawed-off rifle, ammunition, methamphetamine, and items related to drug use.

23-year-old Jaydin Cuvilier has been charged with 14 offences, including:
-Flight from a peace officer
-Dangerous operation
-Possession of a prohibited weapon
-Possession of a prohibited weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public
-Occupy a vehicle in which he knew there was a prohibited weapon
-Possess a firearm while prohibited (x6)
-Operate a conveyance while prohibited from doing so
-Possession of stolen vehicle over $5000
-Unlawfully possess a controlled substance

Cuvilier remains in custody and will appear in Whitecourt Provincial Court today, November 12th.
