Yellowhead County has itself a new Mayor.

A total of 1800 ballots were cast in Monday’s mayoral by-election. After polls closed at 8 pm, votes for the day plus those from advanced voting and special ballots were counted, and Jim Eglinski has been voted as the next Mayor of Yellowhead County.

Eglinski, who ran a campaign that focused on responsible fiscal management, beat out the other five candidates after receiving over half the votes.

The unofficial voting results, according to the County, are as follows:
Jim Eglinski – 948 Votes
Doug Elzinga – 310 Votes
Wayne Murphy – 278 Votes
Jack Williams – 159 Votes

Previously serving as the Member of Parliament for Yellowhead for 5 years before deciding not to seek re-election this Fall, Eglinski will officially be sworn in as Mayor on January 14th.
