Last week’s snow and icy conditions are to blame for a fatal collision involving two semi-trailers and a truck on Highway 22 near Drayton Valley.

On December 12 around 12:30 pm, a semi-trailer was traveling northbound on Highway 22 when it lost control and collided with a southbound semi-trailer. A truck following the northbound semi was then damaged by debris.

The 31-year-old driver of the southbound semi from Abbotsford, B.C., was pronounced dead on scene.

The 29-year-old male driver of the northbound semi from Surrey, B.C., was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, while the 56-year-old male driver of the truck from Drayton Valley had minor injuries that were treated at the scene.

Drayton Valley RCMP continues to investigate the crash but say road conditions were poor at the time.
