There will soon be new lights illuminating the trails along Highway 43.
Whitecourt Town Council this week approved funding for a project that will see 17 lights put in along the Highway 43 Path Memorial Point Trail; 10 lights along the trail and 7 along the highway.
Funds were allocated in the Town’s budget for the project, which is set to be completed this spring and will help improve the safety and usability of the trail system.
Mayor Maryann Chichak explains more about the project.
The total price tag for the project is $208,495.89 and it will be split between the Town and Fortis Alberta. Whitecourt will provide $160,735.89 to the project from the 2020 Capital Budget and Fortis will contribute $47,760.00.
