Sangudo Truck Driver Shot in Mayerthorpe

A man is in hospital in serious but stable condition after a shooting early Monday morning in Mayerthorpe.

Around 1:30 am, Mayerthorpe RCMP received a call of a shooting that had occurred in the industrial area of Highway 43 and 50 Street in Mayerthorpe.

A 50-year-old male semi-tractor driver from Sangudo was parked and seated in his semi-tractor when an unknown suspect(s) shot at the truck and then fled.

The man, who was the lone occupant in the semi-tractor was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries as a result of the shooting, where he remains.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a dark-colored Dodge Ram pick-up truck.

The Mayerthorpe RCMP, with the assistance of RCMP Forensic Identification Services, are investigating this incident.

RCMP are asking anyone who may have information or who may have seen the suspect vehicle in the area to contact the Mayerthorpe detachment at 780-786-2291 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
