Parkland RCMP have arrested a man very well-known to them after he fled from police last week.
Early on February 5th in Stony Plain, RCMP located a vehicle being driven by a known offender, Alexandre Carriere, who was on a 24-hour house arrest stemming from previous charges.
When RCMP attempted to stop the vehicle, Carriere took off at a high rate of speed and police did not pursue out of concerns for public safety. They located and arrested Carriere on February 9th, and he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
Alexandre Carriere is facing six charges related to this incident, including:
-Flight from peace officer
-Fail to comply with release order conditions (x3)
-Drive while unauthorized (Traffic Safety Act)
-Possession of Methamphetamine
Carriere was held for a judicial interim release hearing and was remanded into custody, where he remains for a court appearance in Stony Plain Provincial Court on February 12th.
Carriere has numerous outstanding charges from a similar incident that occurred Sept. 21, 2019. These charges include impaired operation, operation while prohibited, dangerous operation, flight from peace officer, mischief over $5000 and drive uninsured motor vehicle on highway (Traffic Safety Act). He has a subsequent appearance for these charges on Feb. 26, 2020 at Stony Plain Provincial Court.
